We take privacy issues very seriously. Please read below on how we use data collected on our sites and the protection of customer information we laid in place when you transact with our website matatas.co.nz and our official Instagram and Facebook pages.

What information do you share when you purchase something from our sites?

Shopify hosts the Matatás Bookshop e-commerce platform. You will be asked to provide personal information relevant to your purchase, like name, address, phone number, email address and payment details via ShopPay, GooglePay and ApplePay to complete your transaction. We will contact you using your email address and number for confirmation and any concerns about your purchase. At the same time, the courier company will base the delivery on the shipping address provided. 

What option do I have so I don't have to enter my details again next time?

During the checkout process, you'll be asked if you want to create an account with our Shopify store so you can store whichever information you want to save. Alternatively, you can tick the "Remember Me" option for payment details only stored through Shop Pay. Selecting 'Remember Me' will need your mobile number. It's an added security feature to notify and verify that you are making another purchase. You will receive an SMS to the mobile number provided.

Note that you can use your Shop Pay log-on details you created with Matatás Bookshop across other Shopify-powered stores. If you want to remove and delete your payment details in Shop Pay, please follow the instructions on this ShopPay link to opt-out. If you'd like to remove all your information entirely from our online store, please reach out at hello@matatas.co.nz, and we will make it happen.

How about the information collected for targeted ads and other marketing? 

We only collect your information for the purchase transaction and email marketing if you check this option. Your web browser's IP address and type of device (desktop or phone) are collected by Shopify. With the cookies enabled in your web browser, Shopify-powered store owners like the Matatás Bookshop receive advice for improvements based on statistics, i.e. how much visitor traffic or troubleshooting measures for issues on our storefront. How about on Instagram and Facebook? Are my FB and IG data collected across your website?

Once you create an account with Instagram and Facebook, you are governed by both app's privacy and security policies under the banner of Meta. The Matatás Bookshop enabled Facebook Pixel, allowing us to get insights from the advertising programme Facebook. For example, if we ran ads on FB or IG, and you engaged on it by clicking, liking or sharing, there's a chance that related consumer items or similar ads will target you. If the Matatás Bookshop ads on Meta apps are repetitive and too much, please let us know so we can improve our relationship with you on these social media platforms.
