Refund policy

People change their minds. It happens, and we at Matatás Bookshop get that. We allow a return of unopened items within seven (7) days from purchase following an email return request.  Please note that we can only refund the price of the books, and shipping to return is at the buyer's expense.

To start a return, flick a message at hello@matatas.co.nz with an attached photo of the item you'd like to return. An unopened item is in its original protective film packaging. We will ask for the receipt. Once your return request is accepted, follow the instructions on how and where to send your package. We must receive the books back within the allotted period. 

However, we will not accept items sent back to us without a prior request for a return. Also, sale items or gift cards are deemed final and cannot be returned and refunded. Please get in touch if you have questions or concerns about your specific item under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.

Refunds will be processed to the original payment method after we accept the returned item's condition. You'll receive an email notification from us whether approved or not. Please allow your bank or credit card company to process and reflect this refund transaction on your account. 

If you don't hear from us for more than seven (7) business days since we accepted your return, don't hesitate to contact us as soon as possible.
