This folktale introduces children to major mountains and other notable sites in the Philippines through the spirits that inhabit each of these geographical locations. In the form of strong, beautiful women and imposing men, they playfully interact with the hardworking protagonist, Oke, and send him on his way home. In a Rip Van Winkle-like twist, he finds himself in the future. Having been unexpectedly given immortal life, he is believed to have become the guardian of the mountains.

The story is appropriate for educational reading for young kids ages 9 to 12.
